As a nurse assistant, you’ll be an important part of today’s world of health care, working

Helping people stay independent; Taking blood pressure and respiration; Understanding
and helping patients in pain; Understanding human development; Being sensitive to
patients; Improving communication skills; Understanding medical terms. In addition to
professional training, you’ll learn how to begin and develop your career as a nurse
assistant. Topics include: Conducting a successful job search; creating an effective
résumé, completing applications; Developing interviewing techniques; Managing family

Prerequisites:
1) Must be at least 17 years old as of the first day of class.
2) Must be able to read, comprehend and test in English at an eighth-grade level. Pre-
testing required for all students registering for classes. An alternative is to produce
proof of acceptance in or transcript from a post-secondary education facility. Fax this
proof to 612-872-3200 attention NAT Dept.
3) Must have a recent negative Mantoux (TB skin test) or negative chest x-ray in order
to attend clinical sessions.
4) Must have a “clean” background study before attending clinical. (Form filled out and
completed on first day of class.)
5) $400.00 non-refundable deposit with registration.
6) Payment in full is due 3 business days before the first day of class. A late fee of $25
will be charged for each 3 business days that payment is late beyond this.
Length: 89 hours
